Viet Nam has so far this year earned 93 million USD from fruit and vegetables exports, mainly from China , Japan , the US and the EU.

The country expects to obtain a fruit and vegetables export value of 140 million USD by the end of this year.

Around a half of Viet Nam 's exported volume is sold to China . Therefore, local fruit and vegetables producers have planned to establish wholesale centres in border provinces and upgrade means of transport to ensure product freshness.

Producers have been strictly applying food  hygiene regulations in a bid to raise the competitive edge of Vietnamese fruit and vegetables in the world market.

Viet Nam produced 14 million tonnes of fruit and vegetables in 2003, including various kinds of subtropical fruit such as grape, apple and pear as well as other special Vietnamese fruit.
